Dear Poppa,

The boys and I wanted to do something special to honour your memory. We were thinking about what to do when we went exploring at a beach near our new house and found a Memorial tree where people had painted rocks with the names of loved ones and put them under the tree. Immediately, I knew that was something I wanted to do. It seemed appropriate as I have a tendency to collect small rocks from all the beaches I visit. Stanley Park, Sunset Beach (Lake Ontario), Lake Erie, and now here in Nova Scotia to name a few, so it seemed the perfect way to create a memorial. The boys and I each chose a rock we thought was perfect. We brainstormed some of the things you liked, such as camping, boating, and just being outside for ideas of what to paint on our rocks.

We came home and drew our designs right away. We have them drawn on our rocks in time for your service. Unfortunately, my paints are still in storage so we can't complete the project for your service today. I still wanted to share this for today, our celebration of you, Poppa.

Thank you for your love and all the support you have given to our family. We love you and miss you.
